Database of Resources and Forms

The Team has recorded the various skills and work habits that MT needs to accomplish to work towards his skill and objectives.  The collection of this data allows the team member to better understand MT.  For understanding his non-verbal behaviors, please review the Personal Dictionary below.

Motivators

In short, MT's motivators include: Music, peers, new skills, humour, Ragetti, tennis, books, cars, family, trains

Activities and learning need to be engaging and meaningful for the student. For the activity to be meaningful, the student must see that they are gaining something from the activity. The Learning Module readings describe that some of the most common motivators are: social experiences, movement, sensory, music, and food.

MT really enjoys participating with his peers during activities. He loves laughing and being silly with friends. With this being said, it would be very important to ensure an inclusive environment. In the Chapter 1 readings, and Chapter 3 readings of Downing, it is clear that there is a magnitude of research that supports an inclusive environment. Although the necessary supports would first have to be in place, an inclusive environment would provide the social motivation that my student requires.

He also really enjoys music. My student’s father is a music teacher. Being able to interact musically would be rewarding for both my student and his father.

Also, Downing discusses reinforcement as a way to respond to correct behaviors. Once the correct reinforcement is determined, the likelihood of the target behavior will increase. Therefore, finding the correct reinforcement will also act as a motivator.
